For All the Weak, Worn, and Weary

Does anyone else feel like me? Weak, worn, and weary? Some days (most days) I am tired. Getting out of bed in the mornings feels like an impossible feat. It's all I can do to hold myself together enough to get out the door and off to work. And many days that doesn't happen before first laying into my husband, simply because I woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

Now, not only do I have to trudge off to work feeling frazzled, guilty, and exhausted, but I've missed my most important time of the day - quiet time with the Lord. I can make excuses. It's easy to blame the fatigue on my autoimmune disorder. While there is grace for what my body is going through, still God has given me a choice in how I respond to the challenges I face in this lifetime. He has given me the ability to prioritize how I spend my time. He calls me to meet with Him and I choose instead to stay in bed. I choose sleep over His presence. I walk into my day not only drained physically, but spiritually as well. Please tell me I'm not alone in this constant struggle.

As women, we all have many different responsibilities and hats that we wear. We experience the havoc that emotions can play in our lives. We try to balance work and juggle relationships, all while running our households. Some of us, like myself have health issues that make it even harder some days to function through daily tasks.

If you are weak, worn, and weary, I hope you can join me here for some encouragement throughout your week. These little snippets of encouragement are just me walking through life, learning from the Lord as I go. Come and be refreshed in the word of God with me. Trust me, it will be worth it. I know you're tired. But push through, because as you and I come empty, God is faithful to fill us up to overflowing.

Scripture:

"Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11: 26)

Question to ponder:

  • What do I blame for not prioritizing quiet time?

Action step to take:

  • What can I do to be intentional about giving God the first few minutes of my day?
